Mac Version Of Task Manager3/25/2021
You can open Activity Monitor using either the Launchpad or the Applications folder on Macs running OS X Yosemite.You can also click the Launchpad icon in your Applications folder to open Launchpad.
This functionality is similar to pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del on a Windows computer. Click one of the tabs along the top of the window to sort processes based on the contents of that column. Click CPU, for example, to sort all processes based on which ones are placing the highest demand on your Macs processor. Similarly, click Memory to see which processes are using the most RAM. A higher number indicates an app or process thats using more system resources. The higher the number is, the more likely its slowing down your Mac. If an app or process is using too many system resources and wont quit normally, use Activity Monitor to force it to quit. If an app or process is using too much memory or percent of the CPU, or if the app wont close properly, use the Force Quit command in Activity Monitor to make it quit. It lets you monitor whats happening on your computer and provide you with the ability to shut down the processes and file system which are creating problem to your system. If your computer is running unexpectedly slow, you can open Mac Activity Monitor to determine which applications are consuming the highest amount of resources. Also, you will be able to switch off or shut down the misbehaviour of your applications and all your software. Mac Activity Monitor (Task Manager) is located in your ApplicationsUtilities folder. When you open the Activity Monitor in Mac, you can choose to view information about CPU, Memory, Energy, Disk, and Network usage. These tabs will help you to analyze and measure the functioning of the Mac operating system. You can check whether anything is using too much memory, CPU etc or making your computer unresponsive. CPU tab enables you to see the percentage of CPU used by each process, how long its been active, the name of the user or service that launched the process, and more. Blue shows the percentage used by user processes, while red shows the percentage used by system processes. As long as memory pressure (see in the picture) is not in the red state, macOS has memory resources available. If youre using desktop Mac, then you dont need to check it but if your laptop has poor battery life, then you need to check energy tab in Mac Task Manager. ![]() The network tab will allow you to see which apps are putting the most strain on your connection. Mac users you dont need to worry about this because ctrl alt del mac function is also there. Pressing CommandOptionEscape is the shortcut to access force quit window in Mac. It will pop-up a window asking if you are sure to quit this process. If the program is still running, choose Force Quit to end the process immediately.
